Summary0009919: Random Ardour Crashes
DescriptionI've been experiencing random crashes using Ardour for a couple of minor version releases in a row and wanted to document them as they are severe enough to have caused lost data a few times.

I have no idea what triggers the crash, I could be playing a song, recording a track, editing MIDI, more or less any situation, and Ardour will crash with this error message in the terminal:

/usr/include/c++/14.2.1/bits/stl_vector.h:1130: std::vector<_Tp, _Alloc>::reference std::vector<_Tp, _Alloc>::operator[](size_type) [with _Tp = Gdk::Cursor*; _Alloc = std::allocator<Gdk::Cursor*>; reference = Gdk::Cursor*&; size_type = long unsigned int]: Assertion '__n < this->size()' failed.
Aborted (core dumped)
ardour-request-device: watched PID no longer exists - releasing device.
Steps To ReproduceUse Ardour 8.12.0 on 6.14.3-arch1-1 Arch Linux kernel

We cannot provide support for distro or self compiled versions of Ardour. Please report this issue to Arch's bug tacker.

Alternatively get the official binary or https://nightly.ardour.org/ build (demo version is fine) which can be installed in parallel to distro versions and see https://ardour.org/debugging_ardour
