With a simple session, this was working fine for me. CTRL-F toggled the follow. I tried several different times. Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. Ardour 8.7 downloaded from here. I could not find an indicator to show whether this was enabled or not. Maybe a little 'F' or a '->', or an arrow in the playhead indicator triangle would work for a good indicator ? |

Please take a look at this. This is fresh 8.7 version. The session is very simple, some guitars and bass recorded plus MIDI drums. https://youtu.be/I29dmJhQWJc |

i cannot reproduce this on (neither new or old sessions) Mac: 14.6.1, follow playback works without issue Ardour 8.7.11 "Sonora Portraits" (rev 8.7-11-g2d99ff9703) ARM 64-bit (aarch64) |

Issue details: OS: Linux, Platform: Ubuntu. "i cannot reproduce this on [...] Mac" ... Have you tried on OS/2? |

@skygge I am able to confirm that using the menu bar->transport->follow playhead method is faulty. For some reason, my hotkey was CTRL-3 for that method when a session is freshly opened. I opened an existing session, toggled the Follow using the Transport menu as you did in the video. The playhead would not follow! I hit CTRL-F. Then I was able to toggle using the Transport Menu successfully after hitting CTRL-F. The Transport hotkey then changed to CTRL-F. All toggles then worked after that. I am unable to test on BEoS V5 or OS/2 at the moment :) |

Nevermind about the CTRL-3 hotkey issue......That was Follow Range, not Follow Playhead..... Long day....... |

This info can be useful: I have two monitor setup under Wayland / Plasma 6.1. I also noticed that the splashscreen appears not in the center of my primary screen but somewhere in the geometrical center of both screens (one is 1440p, second 1080p). So maybe playhead goes off the screen until it meets the border of the second monitor? My primary monitor is the left one and secondary is on the right side, and Ardour works on the primary screen, but sometimes I move the mixer to the second monitor. |
