| Description | This is something that I feel most midi-oriented DAWs have. https://www.image-line.com/fl-studio-learning/fl-studio-online-manual/html/basics_shortcuts.htm https://discourse.ardour.org/t/split-a-midi-note/90615/2 I see there's the ability to split a midi note by grid lines and the ability to split the note into equal parts (1/2, 1/3, etc), but sometimes I draw a long note and decide I want to insert a note inside it, so need to split the note at a certain/arbitrary point. This is basically a request for the current cut tool that works on regions but for a single midi note. Thanks! | ||||

You can archive this via by default setting Session > Properties > MIDI > Policy for handling overlapping notes ... to "shorten overlapping exiting notes" |

Thanks for the suggestion. I think I prefer the default - it at least splits in the middle, but yields two notes I can manually edit. "shorten overlapping exiting notes" splits but also removes the first half, yielding only one midi note from the split. Also noticing the undo functionality after enabling "shorten overlapping exiting notes" seems off. If I split the note, I'm left with the one note. When I undo, I get the original note, but split on the other side, so the note is not the original length it was in the beginning. |
