Summary | 0008068: 'Record with count-in' does not work when set to JACK master
Description | 'Record with count-in' works as expected using the 'Int.' setting of the 'External positional sync' - I get two bars of count-in, then transport starts rolling. When I set the sync to JACK (e.g. to synchronise with Hydrogen), transport rolls right away, with no count in. Similar behaviour in Ardour 5.12 and in the version 6 release candidate.

This is unfortunately expected behavior. It isn't possible to integrate count-in with JACK transport. |
JACK transport and pre-roll/count-in are not compatible. The same is true when using other external positional synchronization mechanisms (e.g. LTC or MTC). |
For clarity, I would suggest to make the respective menu entries insensitive (grayed out) in case they actually do not work in certain synchronization modes. It is a unfortunate that it is technically impossible to have a count-in especially when starting to record on bar 1. |
Fixing not possible due to opposing laws of nature. |
