Summary | 0006672: One session that was updated from Ardour 3 doesn't produce any sound, but all the tracks and signal routing are there
Description | One session that I have created with Ardour 3 has broken once I opened it with Ardour 4. It looks allright, nothing's alerting me, but I can't get any sound out of the session. I checked the audio routing, it looks fine. When I switch the tracks' meters to indicate "input" level it reacts to the playback, but seems like the faders just wont let the sound through. This happened just with one session, I had more that were updated to Ardour 4, but none other displayed such behaviour. Ardour doesn't show any warning or such, just silently fails to play back any sound. What is going on? This looks like a serious bug.
Steps To Reproduce | 1. Download the session (I release it for research purposes only, to be used for fixing this issue): https://mega.nz/#!a5pj3ahb 2. Load it, 3. Start playback, 4. Hear nothing.
Additional Information | I'd really want to be able to recover this session, as it contains some serious work done, I don't want to redo all that. I would greatly appreciate if anybody found a way to make it work again.

The link to download the session seems to require a decryption key. |

I downloaded the session and opened it with nightly build 4.4.213. The session that you uploaded has a few missing files and I don't have any of the calf plugins installed but apart from the volume being fairly low all the tracks(apart from those with missing sources) do playback. Perhaps it is an issue with the plugins, there is an option that was added to recent builds to disable plugins from the Session Setup window before launching the session. Can you try it and see if it makes any difference? |
