| Summary | 0005745: Ardour draws the same waveform for different files. | ||||
| Description | Ardour 3.5-14 Adding two different files with THE SAME NAME but from DIFFERENT LOCATION (folder), Ardour draws the same waveform for both. Also, when doing zoom in, the real waveform from the file with the incorrect draw, appears. Attached a short captured video. | ||||

Hi, I tried to reproduce this but I couldn't with either 3.5.14 or master branch I put two files with the same name into two different folders and then imported them into Ardour. I didn't experience the behaviour in the video you have attached. They both had very different waveforms displayed at all zoom levels. I also tried renaming the regions in the region list in case that made a difference but it didn't. Can you please outline the steps you used? Can you reproduce this with a new Session etc? |

OK, I spoke too soon. I can reproduce this. If I import two files with the same name from different directories and don't copy the file to the session directory(uncheck "Copy files to session") in the import dialog then I see the same behaviour as in your video |

I just tested this with master@3fc5bf61 and I can't reproduce, The recent peakfile hashing work seems to have fixed it. |

This looks to have been fixed in a recent commit. Can you please try a nightly build and confirm that this is fixed. Thanks. |

I just re-tested this issue with ardour master at aedde11862(4.6.138) and the behaviour seems to have changed. Importing two external files with the same name causes the Ambiguous file dialog to appear even though the "origin" of the external files is an absolute path in the session file. So I'm not sure why the ambiguity. |
