Summary | 0009783: (AMD GPU) Audio/MIDI window is blank if opened again
Description | If the engine I/O device has changed since you last opened a specific session, opening Audio/MIDI Setup from the Window menu will bring up an empty window. This seems to be an issue with AMD specifically (tested on an AMD Radeon Vega 8), as previously discussed on this forum post: https://discourse.ardour.org/t/audio-midi-setup-window-is-blank/108966
Steps To Reproduce | 1. Open a session that triggers the message: "Engine I/O device has changed since you last opened this session." 2. Audio/MIDI Setup will open, and should be populated with UI elements as expected. Click Start to open the session. 3. Open Audio/MIDI Setup from Window menu. The window will open again, but shows nothing this time.
Additional Information | The option "Allow to resize Engine Dialog" under Preferences > Appearance > Quirks has no effect on this issue. The Audio/Midi Setup window works normally if the "Engine I/O device has changed" message doesn't appear. Workaround: Checking the option "Use intermediate-image surface to render canvas" seems to fix the issue, albeit by using software rendering.

Update: The listed workaround doesn't actually work. Engine UI is still blank even when using intermediate image surface. |
|
The issue as we understood it was because the Window was too small for the content (unrelated to image surface). Does Prefs > Appearance > Quirks > Allow to resize Engine Dialog help? |
|
It doesn't, unfortunately. The issue still occurs whether that option is checked or not. |
