 The navigation view is intended to be small and very compact and not of a great deal of use for seeing the context of the whole session. It has qutie a different purpose than the summary pane at the bottom of the editor window. The summary pane shows regions and can give an fairly clear overview of the entire session, including the "context" of what is currently visible in the editor. It is also resizable if you don't have much need for it. We could an option to not display it at all.
