Summary | 0007582: Measure bars starting from 0
Description | AT the moment Ardour starts its bar counts at 1. The means that for straight song writing, sections start on multiples of 4/8/16 plus one. e.g. 1, 9, 17, 33, 37, 53. These take some mental effort to figure out in your head. If bar counts started at zero, it would be much quicker to figure out the starting point of a new section, as it would just be a straight multiple of 4/8/16 (or 12, or what ever your section length is), without the plus one. So the above points would be 0, 8, 16, 32, 36, 52 - much easier to work out in your head. I know that this pattern is prevalent in DAW software, and that's a good reason to keep the option to use 1-indexing, but I think this would be a pretty useful improvement, and probably something that most other DAWs would eventually adopt.
