Summary | 0007329: Incorrect recording box when recording with preroll
Description | This was reproduced with version 5.8 and 5.8.562 nightly. Video of behaviour attached. Expected behaviour: Rec-box is not created until the point recording starts.

It's not wrong, since record w/preroll does start recording immediately. The region is only trimmed at rec-stop (and can later be expanded backwards) |

When I say incorrect, I mean it conflicts with my expectations of how pre-roll should work based on the behaviour in other DAW's. For instance: https://youtu.be/r7I2qc-nYBI?t=151 If the current behaviour in Ardour is an intentional design rather than just a result of how it is currently implemented then I can close this issue, but I find the current behaviour confusing and inconsistent with the final result of recording. |
