Summary | 0006649: Faders on mixer strip and editor sometimes not in sync
Description | Ardour version: 4.4.0 Steps to reproduce: 1: Create new session. 2: Move playhead to some point in time > 0. eg, 1 min 3: Import audio to a new track (or record something), at playhead. 10 seconds of audio is enough. 4: Enable fader automation on the track. 5: Switch to Draw mode. 6: Put initial automation point just after the start of the audio region. Set value to -inf. 7: Move implicitly-created automation point at time=0 to -inf, resulting in a horizontal line at -inf, leading up to the start of the region. 8: Add more fader automation points within the audio region as desired. (I have one a couple seconds into the region at 0 dB, then another pair at 0 dB and -inf at the end of the region, creating a fade in and fade out that can be heard.) 9: Place playhead 0.5 - 1 second or so before the start of the region. 10: Enable Auto Return. 11: Set Fader automation mode on the track to Play. Fader should move to -inf if it wasn't already there. 12: Play a few seconds from that point (I use keyboard space bar) and observe that automation is working correctly -- eg, fade-in can be heard in sound from Master/Monitor. 13: Stop playback; playhead correctly returns to original position, with fader back to -inf. 14: Set Fader automation mode to Manual. EXPECTED: Fader should stay at -inf, right? At least, this is what I've come to expect -- it should keep its current value. ACTUAL: Fader in Editor (the horizontal one) changes to 0. 15: Switch to Mixer window (or enable Editor Mixer and select the track) and notice that the fader in the mixer is at -inf, as I expect. :) 16: Play again and get sound from the start of the region (no automated fade-in, not that one would be expected in Manual mode), so indeed the fader is apparently at 0 dB internally, as shown on the Editor's fader. So regardless of whether the behavior at step 14 is correct or not, the fader level displayed in the mixer strip does not seem to be in sync with the "real" value. Moving the mixer fader suddenly syncs them.
