Summary | 0006561: Short MIDI loop cuts notes in other MIDI tracks
Description | (Ardour 4.2 on Ubuntu Studio) Create one bar within a MIDI track and fill this with notes (e.g. drum pattern). Then play this bar in looped mode and play a different melody on your external MIDI keyboard with a MIDI synth in another track. When you try to play (without recording) long notes, they are always cut when the playhead jumps back to the beginning of the loop range. (But when I use the virtual keyboard with ZynAddSubFx, notes can be hold as long as I want.)

Ardour send a midi-panic message every time the transport is re-located (ie at the end of the loop) on all tracks. (midi-panic: all notes off, all sound off, raise sustain pedal) Use "duplicate, region fill-track" instead of the loop or use an external synth to jam along. |

OK, thank you. So this is not a bug but a necessary behaviour of the program. I will try with your two suggestions. |

This behavior is currently intentional (so it's not a bug per se). Still it may be wrong... (design bug): When monitoring input only (no disk playback on a given track, no recording), ardour could forgo sending the panic on that given track. |
