Summary | 0005521: Disable MIDI control of plugins if MIDI input is disabled for parent track
Description | Please disable MIDI control of plugin parameters when MIDI input is disabled for that track. Currently if MIDI input is disabled, only musical note input will be ignored - plugin attributes will still be affected by signals from MIDI knobs etc. This means that MIDI knobs can only control one set of attributes, which is very limiting. It would be useful if they affected only the tracks that had MIDI input enabled on them, and thus which sets of plugin attributes were affected by the knobs could be easily switched when MIDI input for those tracks were enabled or disabled.

MIDI control over plugins is desirable during playback, not just when recording. MIDI control only works in the way you describe if you use dynamic "MIDI learn". If you use a MIDI binding map, then the controls can be bound to "the n-th parameter of the m-th plugin of the x-th track", and the x-th track can be defined by the ordering in the editor or mixer windows. A future modification to MIDI binding maps will allow binding the the (first) currently selected track, too. |

Thanks for the info! Cheeky question: any idea whether the future modification you spoke if is intended in the short, medium, or long term? |
