Summary | 0005453: For transport controls, Ardour will only learn MIDI signals, but not MIDI controller signals
Description | Ardour quite happily learns MIDI (via ctrl-middle click) for most functions -- faders, solo, mute, etc -- but refuses to learn for any of the transport functions (play, record, stop, etc). When ctrl-middle clicking, the learn dialogue pops up, and disappears when I press a control. But thereafter, the button does not respond to the controller. This is the case for all Controller signals. I have tried buttons, knobs, faders, etc. It works fine for NoteOn signals -- I can bind play, record, etc to keys on the keyboard, but this is quite useless. I would like to be able to bind the transport functions in Ardour to the play, stop, record and seek beginning buttons on my keyboard, which Ardour currently refuses to do.
Additional Information | The MIDI interface I'm using is an Edirol PCR-500, which is a keyboard with a ton of buttons and knobs.
