Summary | 0001022: question about grid (and zoom)
Description | why while zooming in the grid doesn't increase detail? at higher zooms (i.e.: a bar fills the entire viewport) is useful to have a grid subdivided by 1/16 bar. it could be pretty nice if those lines (dis)appear gradually (i.e.: from transparent to opaque) while changing zoom. ANOTHER SUGGESTION: when dragging on the timeline to move playhead, it could be useful map the y axis to the zoom, so you can zoom and locate pieces of audio quickly.

nice ideas. the problem with the finer resolution (sub-beat) measure lines is that its unclear what should be drawn. if you work in 4/4 time all the time, the answer is pretty obvious. but as soon as you start to include 6/8, anything in 3, or non-western music with other time signatures, the choice is no longer obvious. once it becomes clear what to draw, we can draw it. your second idea is a fine one and we'll consider adding it post-2.0 |

Maybe add an option in the View menu under "Show Measures" to make the displayed lines follow the selected grid. Could be labeled "Lines follow grid" perhaps. It seems the resolution lines are displayed according to the zoom level anyway now (zoom out lots, and the lines merge), but only up to one beat when zooming in. |
